WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE

Whether you are a grade eight student looking for hours towards your Confirmation Service Project, a high school student needing 40-hours, or just a very helpful person, there's always service projects for youth to get involved in at St. Marguerite d'Youville parish.  However, you must contact the YM Coordinator ASAP as spots do fill up for the service projects listed below.

It is very important for you to get your Parish Volunteer Forms signed prior to serving with the Youth Ministry.

High School Service Projects

FALL SERVICE OPPS...remember if you don't have service forms you need to contact Eliza before starting any of service projects listed below.

 ***OCTOBER***
 
CONFIRMATION SERVICE SESSION HELPERS
 
Skills needed:  Able to work on a team and take direction.  Basic computer and communication skills.
Duties include:  Directing people and running ice breakers.
 
POTENTIAL SERVICE DATES
  • MONDAY OCTOBER 19, 2009-4:00 to 6:00 pm
 
BAPTISMAL PREP BABYSITTERS
 
Skills needed:  Able to entertain children.  Willing to work on a team and take direction.  Able to direct and supervise others.
Duties include:  Enternaing toddlers and aiding the baptismal prep team.
Please contact me as this is an ongoing type of service project.
 
  ***NOVEMBER***
 
LITURGY HELPERS
  • MONDAY NOVEMBER 9, 2009 -5:30-9:00 pm
  • WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 11, 2009 6:00-9:00 PM
Skills needed:  Able to work on a team and take direction.  Able to direct people.
Duties include:  Directing and welcoming people.
 

CONFIRMATION HELPERS

  • SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2009 4:00 - 6:30 pm
  • SUNDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2009 8:00-2:00 pm

RETREAT TEAM LEADERS
  • FRIDAY DECEMBER 4, 2009 -3:00-4:00 pm (meeting)
  • SATURDAY DECEMBER 5 2009 9:00 am-2:30 pm
  • plus 1 additional meeting to meet your team.

Skills needed:  Able to work on a team and give direction.  Able to direct people.

Duties include:  Directing and welcoming people.
 

LITURGY LEADERS

  • WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 16, 2009 5:30-9:00 pm
CONFIRMATION SERVICE HOURS KIOSK SERVERS
 
Skills needed:  Able to work on a team and take direction.  Basic computer and communication skills.  Able to process information.
Duties include:  Directing people and providing information.
  • SATURDAY DECEMBER 19, 2009 4:30 to 6:00 pm
  • SUNDAY DECEMBER 20  2009-8:30 am to 2:00 pm
Skills needed:  Willing to work on a team and take direction.  Able to direct and supervise others.  Able to process information at a rapid pace.
 
 

GRADE 8 SERVICE PROJECTS

These projects have been designed to help confirmation students complete their service projects.  More importantly, they are being offered to confirmation students so they might understand fully what it means to be confirmed Roman Catholic.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO GET VOLUNTEER FORMS SIGNED! 
You need to have your Volunteer Forms signed and attend a service session before starting any of these projects. Forms can be filled out on the day of service or when attending one of the service session.

OFFICE OF THE CATHOLIC YOUTH

The Office of Catholic Youth, known as the OCY, organizes many events for youth to get involved in, in and around the General Toronto Area. They organize programs such as Street Patrol, Cold Squad, Summer of Service, Service Saturday, Hands of Service Scholarship, Do it Yourself Volunteering , ACTS: A Call to Service, and other Volunteer oppourtunities.
